The Price of Inaction

Respond for Social Media from

I read this awesome PDF on the website. It is a great way to open the eyes of business owners who are ignorant to the fact that their customers are on these websites and they EXPECT them to be there.

Dear Coke, can I borrow your fans? Just for a little bit...

Think of how much more you would like Coca-Cola if you tweeted “I just bought a coke from the gas station and it was flat before I even opened it.”

Then their VP of Marketing Operations tweeted back and gave you an email coupon for a free 12 pack of Coke from the local grocery store to make up for your Coke mis-hap.

Coke saved the day, Saved their brand reputation, and won a client for life. All with free social media tools and someone who had the smarts to “listen” to what was being said about them.

Coke has one of the largest pages on Facebook when it comes to “Fans” I think they are a little over 16 Million friends. Thats only 3% of the facebook population. I think its fair to say if you have a computer or internet access to facebook you have the ability to enjoy coke.

Think of it this way. We are approaching a social media revolution. Does everyone remember the graph in economics about “critical mass”. Well children. Its practically here. Jump on the Social Media and Social Marketing train now before its too late you will be playing catch up.

Or as the Attensity document says. You will be like an ostrich with your head in the sand, just ignoring the problem building around you and the business owners in the area.

What do you think? Chew on that.
