So…this is my attempt to remove as many biblical references as possible so people dont feel like Gorman is preaching. But I was at a small group meeting the other night and my best friend, Bill Rose, gave one of the best messages I have ever heard him deliver in his life.
(Joshua 10:12)”At that time Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD gave the Amorites over to the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel,
(O) “Sun, stand still at Gibeon,
and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”
13And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped,
until the nation took vengeance on their enemies.
So other than the fact that Jesus made the earth stand still Joshua was with his army at the top of a mountain, getting ready to fight a large army at the base of the mountain. With the sun resting over the top of the mountain, people looking up the mountain couldnt see anything because of the sun. Therefore, Joshua, ambushed the armies and won his battle, all because the sun was behind him.
Does that make sense? Moving past biblical reference…
Everyone has a journey. Everyone has a mountain to climb. For Joshua and his army is was about 4000 feet. For you and I it could take our entire life. Regardless of the time of the journey or the motivation behind the journey we all have out end goal/result/destiny. What is the thing holding you back? What is stopping you from rolling down the mountain and conquer your dreams?
Why haven’t you checked if the sun is behind you? Bill Rose used one of the best motivational metaphors I had ever heard. Sorry Dale Carnegie…this guy is stepping in your zone.
So this guy has put all this energy into getting to the top of the mountain. He has all the potential in the world to travel back down the other side but all he needs is a little push. All any of us need is a little push to get down that mountain and take care of our wildest dreams.
Joshua got to the top of the mountain, asked Jesus to stop the sun, and thats all he needed was that little help, that little push to help him fight his downhill battle to free his people.
What do you think about that? I would say the only thing holding you back….is yourself!
