Sweat is beading up on your brow. Your toes slowly creep up to the edge until the tips wrap around the end of the concrete platform. you can feel a slight wind but nothing else matters because you are committed to making that dive, making that jump, and taking that leap. You know with all your heart everything is going to be ok. Its going to be better than ok. She is worth the risk. But what are you risking? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. She fills in the gaps of life. She makes the question marks turn into exclamation points. She is the smiley face at the end of your sentence. Even though it’s a sentence you wont speak to her some times, a text, a note, a hand signal, or a whisper in an embrace. It’s the most important thing you will ever say to her. Ever. I love you.

A glance in her eyes bring you to your knees with all the little things about her you love. Her smile is almost reflective because every time you see it you cant help but smile right back at her. You want to say, “Thank you for being beautiful…Thank you for loving me…Thank you for loving me regardless of my faults and imperfections…Thank you for being the brightest star in my sky and thank you for never leaving me.

I have said it before…that there is nothing greater than the love of your closest friends and how great life is with them. I said that when I was unsure of love. Love was an untamed monster I had gotten burned by, and let’s be honest who hasn’t. But how will you ever learn how to ride a bike if the first fall you make is your last? Is it possible to know what true success is like without knowing the pain of failure? And then the perseverance to push through the pain and embarrassment, and the ridicule to finally find that success you have worked so hard to get to.

Love will fill you in all areas of life where everything else cannot. Your job will be better, your tea will be sweeter, your friendships will be more fruitful, your water will be more clear, your heart will be more full and you will never ever feel lonely, ever again. No matter where she is, you know the reciprocation of love is always there. I love you, you love me. Are you smiling yet? Tell your loved one they mean the world to you. Tell them through thick and thin you are right there beside them. You will never judge them, and you will love them unconditionally. Tell them this love is like no other. Love was redefined when they came into your life. You love the spark at the end of their lips every time you come in for a kiss. Your velvety soft lips feel heavenly at any time of day and are always welcome. Nothing compares to your arms around me, the whisper of your voice falling on my ears brings my soul to its knees. Which it is, the day has love in the air and everyone is sporting some red on their person in celebration of this glorious day.

Love, right? Thats what its all about isn’t it? Sharing the deepest thoughts and feelings one has towards the other. Yes I am sure you have confessed your love the third date you had, and then when you asked her to be your girlfriend and probably the last time you wanted to get some. Its ok, you can admit it…girls respond to the emotionally connected type of love (not like the physical love most men lust after). She will crumble like a cookie in your hands.

There is a book by Dr. Gary Chapman called, “The Five Love Languages” which would show you and tell you how to actually treat your lady all year round and not using V-Day as a way to bail yourself out to last another year.

I am still waiting for the right woman to come along…(i think i might have found her…so stay tuned…).

The flowers mean so much more on a random Thursday after a long day of work just to remind her why she chose you. Because yes, she does have a choice…to leave or to stay, so you need to make sure you keep her around because there will always be hundreds of thousands of guys who would probably kill for a girl as good as you have right there on your arm.

“Love the one your with”…I was told that once and it didn’t make sense until I realized it was me getting let loose by a girl back in high school. That’s me, always getting dumped…why?!!? Can’t I lower the hammer once? Like I was saying…love the one your with. Its so much easier to fix the small problem in your relationship then to go out and have a fling with a random (guy or girl). its disrespectful to your partner if you would rather do that than fix her. Its better for me to get a promotion with my current job than to go off and find another job I have to work my way up to where I am anyway!!!

Ranting…stop me now.

To all the lovers out there…this is your special day but make it last 365 days until the next year. She will appreciate it, I will appreciate you not sucking at your relationship.

Favorite thing to do when not working- Write. I love taking thoughts and putting them on paper. I love expressing myself through words. Whether its love, or pain or confusion the way you can manipulate words to show, tell, embrace and recreate the way you feel is amazing. Words are my best friend and I think one of the most powerful tools we have and will always have is the power of the written word. Try writing someone a letter, they will tell you what I am talking about.

My most memorable moment of 2010 – Spending time with a girl named Megan. I still have the Maxwell House Instant Coffee bags but I have cleaned the Oreo cheesecake out of the fridge and I hope you are using your hat and mittens from Ireland. It’s finally gotten cold outside. Miss you…
